DescriptionIn September 1996 the Rev. T. Melville Bailey gathered together a group of mountain citizens who were consulted in forming an historical society that would meet to hear speakers on subjects that portrayed events and people connected chiefly with mountain history. As a result, the Hamilton Mountain Heritage Society was formed with a slate of officers.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every other month, September to May. From time to time (as indicated on the HMHS website) the group meets in an alternate location to commemorate a significant community historical/heritage event.
